I am very pleased to tell you that with recent price increases, the Royal Mail's door to door leaflet delivery service is now around £76/1,000 for the lightest leaflets!
As a competitor of theirs in the UK, this is excellent news! We normally charge around £40 to £45/1,000, so it does not take a Master's in Mathematics to spot which is better value, especially as we deliver a maximum of 3 leaflets in total without any other competing firms. The Royal Mail hurls an avalanche of bills and leaflets through your letterbox at the same time! The bills are highly likely to take priority for householders, as they have to be paid whilst the often A4 size, enormous leaflets, such as for supermarkets, will go straight to the bin. This does not happen with us, as our leaflets are inserted through the client's letterbox by themselves and thus have his/her entire attention.
By the way, if you can deliver a few million leaflets via the Royal Mail, it does become cheaper..!

Leaflet Distribution Pay UK
In 12 years of having hired hundreds of flyer distribution staff myself and examining how other companies operate, I have encountered wildly disparate rates of pay. Some firms pay peanuts, almost literally, whilst others do at least go above the minimum wage! Part of the problem is the perception by clients new to leaflet delivery who imagine the service is identical from every company and therefore the only criteria for deciding who to use is price. As anyone with understanding of the industry appreciates, this is lunacy! The real issue is quality and reliability, not the lowest price.
A know a competitor who pays £25/1,000! Considering it would take around 6 hours to complete 1,000 leaflets, this is not exactly a living wage, especially with recent inflation in essentials like food, gas, electricity, oil etc caused by increasing global demand for them by rising economies in China, India, Brazil and Russia and also the Bank of England "printing" billions in an attempt to kickstart the U.K. economy. When a central bank is forced to engage in the ridiculous euphemism of "Quantative Easing", printing money, you know things are bad! Anyway, we usually pay around £45 for 2 leaflets and £50 for 3. It is difficult to motivate and retain decent staff for less and having long-term leafleters that you trust and who also trust you to pay them promptly and fairly is vital. My franchisees throughout various regions in Britain and internationally, are of course allowed to set their own rates of pay, but we all adhere to the same system of permanent staff who are treated well.
There is a stark contrast between price and quality in leaflet distribution.

Beware of scams used by some leaflet delivery companies!
Some unethical leaflet distribution companies use a variety of scams to con clients. These are some of the most recent ones I have heard of:
- Ordering leafleters to deliver to houses that have "No junk mail" signs! This is not only a complete waste of time, but deeply unpopular with leafleters who can suffer verbal abuse, such as "Can't you read?". The clients whose leaflets were pushed through are also likely to receive angry phone calls!
- Stating that the leafleters having video cameras attached to them to record the delivery is a guarantee. On closer inspection of the guarantee, an example is given that if 10,000 leaflets were supposed to go out and the client watches the video and only 9,500 went out, the 500 will be refunded. There is just 1 problem with this and it is a huge one, certainly in terms of time. It would be around 60 hours of video! No one will ever watch it which I would imagine is precisely why that guarantee was created!
- Boasting that leafleters have gps devices on them, but not realising that some of them can just literally walk the route without delivering anything! A quick look at the gps records shows that they went along all the streets, so everything must be fine...!
